Hemorrhoids are one of the best understood medical conditions, but when it comes to treatment they are among the most difficult to deal with. So many things can cause hemorrhoids that in order to diagnose the cause of every outbreak a team of doctors and scientists would have to be recruited and analyze everything about you.

The causes, symptoms, and treatments of hemorrhoids are constantly being studied. One interesting thing that researchers have found is that hemorrhoids are often linked to obesity. If you are overweight, you are at risk of dealing with a case of hemorrhoids. Obesity is a serious issue and not only causes hemorrhoids, but can cause far worse, life threatening diseases. As far as hemorrhoids, the extra weight you carry places a great deal of strain on your body and the veins around your rectum, contributing to the development and pain of hemorrhoids.

Such a strain puts your body at risk for developing the tiny clots that pool up and cause hemorrhoids. The heavier you are, the greater your risk for developing hemorrhoids. This is one more reason that overweight patients should seek help and begin to get their weight under control.

It is well known that heredity plays a major role in the passage of medical problems to children. Unfortunately, the same is true of hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids can be hereditary. If someone in your family has suffered from them, it may be that you will also develop hemorrhoids.

This is something that you should discuss with your family doctor. Your doctor may be able to perform tests to determine if the hemorrhoids with which you are dealing are hereditary. This may give insight as to the best way for you to deal with hemorrhoids. Your father or mother, or whomever in your family had hemorrhoids may also be able to give you insight into dealing with the issue.

As we have said, the causes of hemorrhoids can be numerous. However, one of the most common reasons for hemorrhoids today is due to anal canal infections. These infections may be the result of a fissure, or small tear, in your anal region. If you have experienced this you are at risk to develop hemorrhoids.

So many people have to deal with hemorrhoid without knowing or understanding their cause. Your doctor can look at the infected area and may be able to give you insight as to the development of your hemorrhoids. In some cases hemorrhoids become so troublesome that it becomes necessary to remove them surgically.
